(Spirit Lake)–There’s another Measles scare in the area.
Health Department officials say Measles was confirmed in a child who visited several locations in Jackson, Spirit Lake, Lakefield and Spencer within the past week or so.
Officials say people who visited those same locations at the same time as the child was there have been exposed.
The locations and times the child visited them include the Spirit Lake Wal-Mart store from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the Sunshine Grocery Store in Jackson from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23rd; the Lakefield clinic in Lakefield from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the Sunshine Grocery Store in Jackson from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25th; and the Lakes Regional Healthcare Emergency Department from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 26th.
An immunization clinic for people who feel they may have been exposed will be held today (Sat.) from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Lakes Regional Healthcare’s Community Health Center in north Milford.
Authorities say the child also visited the Spirit Lake Wal-Mart Thursday, August 20th and was at the South Park Mall in Spencer, the J.C. Penny and Pebbles stores, on Saturday, August 22nd. However they say it’s too late for people who were exposed at those locations to get vaccinated. People who visited those locations at those times should watch for symptoms of measles and contact their doctor if they become ill.
Health officials just released the information Friday night.
