(Arnolds Park)– Area churches have banded together again for Community Table. Pastor Greg Jorgensen with Downtown Church in Milford explains what the Community Table is…
“The community table is actually an effort of the whole community. The community table was started many years ago. It was an effort with the Dickinson County Ministerial. So all the churches in Dickinson County teamed up together to do this. And different churches take turns each month being the host and the sponsor, and they make the food and serve the food. So this is a multi church effort and it’s going to continue to be that way.”
Jorgensen talks about the host of the event…
“And so the Okoboji Bible Conference in Arnolds Park right there at the stoplight. They’ve been wonderful to host this event. And it’s kind of nice because it’s right in the center of the county. So this is a multi-team effort with a lot of churches and the whole community coming together to provide this free meal to anybody who wants to come.”
Robin Duhn, who helps coordinate the event, talks about what to expect at the first Community Table on January 8th…
“The first one is just going to be a good, hearty meal. We’re going to have chili and potato soup. Lisa’s Bake shop is doing some mini cinnamon rolls, and we’ll have some dessert. Um, you know, for us, it’s it’s really anyone and everyone from all walks of life that are welcome to come. It is definitely about the meal, I would say, even more so it’s about community and people coming together and meeting people you probably wouldn’t meet in any other platform.”
Community Table will be held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at the Okoboji Bible Conference in Founders Hall. Doors open at 5:00, meal starts at 5:30 and they will serve until 6:30. This is open to everyone. You can hear the full interview for this story here:
