(Spencer)– Clay county authorities have released details into a two-vehicle collision around 6:00 am December 23rd that resulted in no injuries but totaled a vehicle.
The Sheriff’s Office says Rhonda Smith of Dickens was westbound in the 2800 mile of Highway 18 when she drove into a snow drift that was over the road. Smith then lost control of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander she was driving, which then collided with a 2007 Hundai Tucson owned by Crystal Lopez of Graettinger. Deputies say that vehicle had been left stranded on the road after it got lodged in the drift.
Damage to Smith’s vehicle was estimated at $8,000 while about $10,000 in damage was sustained to the one owned by Lopez.
Authorities say an investigation into the collision is ongoing.
