(Estherville)—A collision Sunday on Highway 9 west of Estherville sent four people to the hospital.
Emmet county authorities say 22-year-old Brent Busch of Armstrong was westbound and was attempting to make a left turn when he traveled into the path of a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Gary Strawn of Des moines. Strawn’s vehicle then collided with an unattended vehicle in the Elk’s Lodge parking lot before coming to rest with half of it on the highway.
Busch and a passenger in his vehicle, 21-year-old Amber Busch of Armstrong were taken to Avera Holy Family hospital by ambulance with non-incapacitating injuries.
Strawn and a passenger in his vehicle, 24-year-old Andrew Strawn of Des Moines were taken by private vehicle to Avera Holy Family to be checked over.
Damage to a 2005 Ford van driven by Strawn was estimated at $8,000; a 2006 Ford pickup driven by Busch was estimated at $6,000. Damage to the parked vehicle was estimated at $1,200.
Brent Busch was cited for failure to yield.
The collision took place shortly after 11:00 a.m.
