Collision Of Two Trucks Sends Man To Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Webb)—A collision Tuesday near Webb involving two trucks sent one person to the hospital.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 55-year-old Carl Burger of Laurens was driving a 1998 Peterbuilt pulling a dump trailer and 56-year-old Danial Anthofer of Audubon was driving a 2006 Chevrolet truck. Deputies say both trucks were southbound on County Road M54 and the Burger was attempting to make a right-hand turn into a farm driver when Anthofer’s truck collided with the side of the dump trailer.

Anthofer was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital for treatment of incapacitating injuries. No injuries were reported to Burger.

Damage to the truck driven by Burger and the dump trailer was put at $500; the truck driven by Anthofer sustained an estimated $2,000 in damage.

Anthofer was cited for failure to stop in a safe distance.

The collision took place shortly after 3:00 p.m.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Webb Fire Department.
