(Hull)– A collision Tuesday involving a semi and a car on Highway 18 three miles east of Hull sent one person to the hospital.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 75-year-old John De Vries of George was driving a 2008 Ford Focus eastbound when he crossed the center line and collided with a milk tank-trailer pulled by a 2021 Peterbilt semi-tractor driven by 55-year-old Anthony Smythe of Primghar.

De Vries was taken by ambulance to the Sioux Center hospital with minor injuries. He was cited for driving on the wrong side of a two-lane highway.

About $12,000 in damage was estimated to the semi tractor-trailer with about $7,000 in damage to the vehicle De Vries was driving.

The collision took place shortly after 12 Noon.

The Hull Fire Department assisted on the scene.
