(Storm Lake)– Two people were injured, one seriously, in a collision Wednesday evening in Buena Vista county.
The Iowa State Patrol says 46-year-old Jay Lockwood of Rembrandt was driving a 1995 Ford Econoline westbound on Highway 3 and 37-year-old Fidel Rodriguez of Algona was driving a 2009 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer eastbound. Troopers say Lockwood was attempting to overtake the semi as it was attempting to make a turn.
Lockwood had to be extricated from his vehicle. He was seriously injured and was transferred by air to a hospital. Rodriguez was also injured. He was taken by ambulance to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
The collision took place a little before 9:00 pm.
