Collision Involving A Pickup And Semi Injures Two

April 22, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Emmetsburg)– Two people were injured Thursday evening in a collision involving a pickup and a semi tractor/trailer.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says 37-year-old Shane Girres of Graettinger was driving a 2003 Ford pickup westbound on 360th Street when he crossed the center line. The vehicle made contact with a 2019 Peterbilt tractor/trailer driven by 29-year-old Sebastian Holzman of Spencer. The pickup went off onto the shoulder, causing it to turn. It then rolled 180 degrees, coming to rest on a portion of the frame of the truck. The Peterbilt continued eastbound, crossed the center line, and went into the north ditch.

Girres was taken by ambulance to Palo Alto County Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Holzman was treated on the scene by paramedics.

The collision took place shortly after 8:30 pm. Authorities say it remains under investigation.
