Collision Injures Dickinson Co. Sheriff’s Deputy

(Spirit Lake)– A collision this (Tuesday) morning in Spirit Lake involving a truck owned by Interstate Power and Light, or Alliant Energy, and a pickup owned by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, sent one person to the hospital.

Spirit Lake police say the Interstate Power truck, driven by Scott Arndt of Spirit Lake, was northbound on Peoria Avenue. The sheriff’s pickup, driven by Deputy Don Gude of Arnolds Park, was westbound on highways 9 and 71. Witnesses told authorities Arndt had a green light and was crossing the highway. The sheriff’s vehicle was enroute to a medical emergency and had its lights and siren going when the two collided in the intersection.

Gude was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. His injuries weren’t believed to be serious. No injuries were reported to Arndt.

Two thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the 2004 International truck owned by Interstate Power; 10-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the 2004 Dodge Ram pickup owned by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision took place shortly before 9:00 a.m.

No charges have been filed so far. Spirit Lake police say it remains under investigation.
