Collision In SW Minnesota Involving Car & Semi Claims A Life

(Windom, Mn.)– A collision Thursday evening in Windom involving a car and a semi claimed a life.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 76-year-old Terry Fredin of Windom was driving a 2016 Ford Edge Southbound on Cindy Street and 30-year-old Eric Murcia of Springfield, Minnesota was driving a 2007 Peterbilt semi westbound on Highway 60 when the two collided in the intersection.

Terry Fredin was killed in the crash. A passenger in his vehicle, 78-year-old Karen Fredin of Windom, sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. No injuries were reported to Murcia and to a passenger in the semi he was driving.

The Windom Police Department, Windom ambulance and the Cottonwood and Jackson County Sheriff’s Offices assisted on the scene.

The collision took place a little after 6:30 pm.
