(Rock Rapids)– A George man has died, and a Minnesota man was taken to the hospital as a result of a crash near Rock Rapids on Friday.
The Iowa State Patrol says 28-year-old Matthew Wieber of Benson, Minnesota, was driving a 2016 Peterbilt semi southbound on Lyon County Road K60 about three miles east Rock Rapids. Troopers say 64-year-old Steven Cuperus of George was driving a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup eastbound on Iowa Highway 9. The two collided in the intersection.
The Lyon County Ambulance took Wieber to the Rock Rapids hospital. Cuperus was pronounced dead on the scene.
Cuperus’s body was sent to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.
The accident remains under investigation.
