Collision At Intersection Of Hwy 18 And Clay County Road M50 Leaves One Injured

(Spencer)—A two-vehicle collision Sunday at the intersection of County Road M-50 and Highway 18 in Clay county left one person seriously injured.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 46-year-old Lauri Myers of Spencer was northbound on County Road M-50 and 25-year-old Joshua Egesdal of Badger, Iowa was westbound on Highway 18 when the two collided in the intersection. The impact of the collision caused the vehicle Myers was driving to spin. It came to rest in the south ditch of Highway 18.

Myers was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital for treatment of a head injury and broken scapula. No injuries were reported to Egesdal.

Authorities say charges are pending in connection with the crash.

$5,000 in damage was estimated to a 2001 Ford F-150 driven by Egesdal and to a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer Myers was driving.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Spencer Police Department, Dickens Fire and Rescue, Spencer Fire and Rescue and the Spencer Hospital ambulance and paramedics.
