(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle collision Saturday at the intersection of 20th Street and Keokuk Avenue in Spirit Lake sent one person to the hospital.
Spirit Lake police say 33-year-old Thomas Bauler of Spirit Lake was northbound on 20th Street and was attempting to stop at a stop sign on Keokuk Avenue but couldn’t because of icy conditions. Police say Bauler’s vehicle then collided with one driven by 79-year-old Gordon Hansch of Spirit Lake who was eastbound on 20th Street. The impact caused the vehicle Hansch was driving to spin around and make contact again with the one driven by Bauler.
Hansch was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. There was no immediate word ont the extent of his injuries or condition.
No other injuries were reported.
Seven thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2006 Dodge Caravan driven by Bauler; a 2008 Ford Expedition driven by Hansch sustained an estimated 12-thousand dollars in damage.
The collision took place shortly before 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
