(Spirit Lake)– While the region is not in the path of totality and it likely will be overcast, those of us in northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota will still be able to see some effect of today’s eclipse.
The National Weather Service says the eclipse will begin around 12:30 or so this (Mon.) afternoon and will reach its peak locally at 1:58 pm. At that point, experts say about 76 percent of the sun will be obscured. And even though it likely will be overcast when that happens, meteorologists say we’ll still be able to see some further darkening of the sky during that time.
