(Spencer)– Officials with Spencer Hospital say they’re swiftly mobilizing resources to provide crucial healthcare services through temporary clinics. As of 2:00 pm today (Tues.), a walk-in clinic dedicated to TDAP (Tetanus) vaccinations was opened in the hospital, near the gift shop at Entrance B. It’s open until 6:00 pm today (Tues.). Regular hours will be Wednesday to Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. For those seeking alternative vaccination locations, Thrifty White Pharmacy is administering TDAP vaccinations from their mobile pharmacy stationed in the Menards parking lot on the south side of Spencer. Operating hours are Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Additionally, Avera Medical Group Spencer has opened a Quick Care Clinic today from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. TDAP Eligibility:
- Adults should receive a booster dose of tetanus, diphtheria-containing vaccine every 10 years. Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccine is routinely recommended as it also protects against whooping cough, which causes illness every year in Iowa.
- For patients with a wound: If the last dose of a tetanus toxoid-containing vaccine was received 5 or more years earlier, a booster dose of an age-appropriate tetanus toxoid-containing vaccine may be recommended.
- Children need a basic series of four doses of vaccine between 2 and 18 months of age, as well as booster doses at 4 to 6 years and 11 to 12 years of age
