(Undated)– Clean up is underway in many areas following a round of severe weather that ripped through the region late Tuesday. In Emmet county, video showed a sizable tornado that touched down briefly just west of the city. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
Many of the storms were accompanied by 60 to 80 mph wind. In O’Brien county, power pole were reportedly snapped off in the Sanborn area, along with tree damage. A 79 mph wind gust was reported near Hartley shortly before 5:00 pm. A 60 mph gust was reported four mile east of Sanborn. Considerable tree and power line damage was reported in Sheldon. Trees and power lines were reported down in the Emmetsburg area, and trees were blown down just west of Royal.
There are additional thunderstorm chances in the forecast over the next several days. The National Weather Service says while an isolated severe storm is possible, the severe threat won’t be as widespread as it was Tuesday.
