Clay, Dickinson Counties Receive Presidential Disaster Declaration

(Des Moines)– President Barack Obama has signed a presidential disaster declaration for two northwest Iowa counties hit be severe storms in July.

The White House says the declaration was issued Wednesday for Clay and Dickinson counties following widespread damage from storms on July 9th-14th.

Governor Terry Branstad requested the declaration. It authorizes long-term federal recovery programs and is designed to help public entities and select nonprofit organizations.
