Clay County Traffic Stop Sends One Person To Jail

(Spencer)– A recent traffic stop in Clay county resulted in the arrest of a Tennessee man.

Authorities say a deputy pulled over a vehicle a little after 2:00 am January 15th in the 3,000 mile of Highway 18 for an alleged traffic violation. Upon making contact with the vehicle, the deputy reported smelling marijuana. Upon investigating it was determined a rear passenger, Shonterria Owens, was allegedly in possession of marijuana. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up additional marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Owens was arrested and booked into the Clay county jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance…marijuana…1st offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
