(Spencer)– A traffic stop Friday in Clay county resulted in the arrests of four people on drug charges.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation around 11:15 p.m. Friday on 420th Street.
Upon investigating, a male passenger, 21-year-old Jesse Partlow of Spencer, admitted possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A subsequent search of Partlow’s backpack turned up what’s alleged to be 45.9 grams of marijuana packaged in several small baggies, packaging material, a digital scale, drug paraphernalia and a pill believed to be ecstacy. Partlo was placed under arrest.
Upon further investigation, the driver, a 17-year-old female from Spencer; a 15-year-old juvenile female passenger from Spencer and a 15-year-old juvenile male passenger from Sioux Rapids were found to have allegedly been using marijuana prior to the stop. The three juveniles were arrested. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a small quantity of what’s alleged to be marijuana.
The 17-year-old female was cited into juvenile court for possession of a controlled substance-marijuana…a serious misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor…and was released to the custody of her parents. The 17-year-old female juvenile was also cited and released for underage tobacco possession…a simple misdemeanor. The two 15-year-old juveniles were cited into juvenile court for possession of marijuana…a serious misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor. Both were released to their parents.
Partlow was charged with distribution of marijuana to a person under 18, a class “B” felony, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a class “D” felony; drug tax stamp violation…a class “D” felony; possession of a controlled substance-Ecstasy, a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor. Partlow was being held pending an initial court appearance.
