(Spencer)– A traffic stop early Saturday in Clay county resulted in drug and other charges against an Estherville woman.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle around 2:00 a.m. for a traffic stop having prior knowledge the registered owner had a revoked driver’s license.
Upon investigating deputies discovered the registered owner was NOT driving the vehicle. Instead, the driver was identified as 36-year-old Tanya Moffitt of Estherville.
A subsequent search of her driver’s license revealed she had been revoked for an O.W.I test failure. Moffitt was placed under arrest. Upon conducting a pat down, the deputy found a marijuana pipe with what’s alleged to be marijuana in it.
Moffitt was booked into the Clay county jail on charges of driving while revoked, possession of a controlled substance…marijuana; failure to file S.R. Insurance…driving under suspension; operating a non-registered vehicle; no proof of insurance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Moffitt was later released after posting a one thousand dollar bond.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in its investigation by the Spencer Police Department.
