(Spencer)– A traffic stop shortly before 11:00 p.m. Saturday in Spencer resulted in charges being filed against several teens for underage consumption and a Spencer man for providing alcohol to minors.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the vehicle was only 15 and was driving on an instruction permit.
It was also discovered a passenger in the front was 16-years-old and had been drinking.
Deputies say there were four other juveniles and one adult in the car, and that some of them had been drinking as well.
Upon further investigation, 21-year-old Casey Burnell of Spencer was arrested and charged with making alcohol available to minors…a serious misdemeanor.
The juvenile female driver was cited and released for underage tobacco possession and for violation of instruction permit limitations…both simple misdemeanors.
The juvenile female passenger was cited and released for permitting an unauthorized minor to drive…a simple misdemeanor.
Three juvenile males were cited into juvenile court for underage alcohol possession and released to the custody of their parents or other responsible adults.
