Clay County Snowmobile Crash Injures Arizona Man

(Spencer)—A weekend snowmobile crash in Clay county injured an Arizona man.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 37-year-old Paul Mathews of Phoenix, Arizona was operating a 2013 Arctic Cat snowmobile westbound in the ditch in the 1400 mile of County Road B-40 and was attempting to cross a driveway. Authorities say he the re-entered the ditch and went off a culvert, causing Mathews to pin the throttle. The snowmobile then collided with a tree, ejecting Mathews.

Mathews was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital where he was treated for lower back injuries.

Damage to the snowmobile was estimated at $100.

The collision took place yesterday.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Hospital ambulance and paramedics, Everly Fire and Rescue and Royal Fire and Rescue.
