Clay County Rollover Sends Four Children To Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A single-vehicle rollover Wednesday in Clay county sent four people to the hospital.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 33-year-old Jessica Bailey of Spencer was driving a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica northbound on County Road M-27 when she noticed a large bird in front of her. Authorities say Bailey then swerved to miss the bird. The vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, swerved back into the northbound lane, and went onto the east shoulder. It then back onto the pavement and slid sideways, rolling onto its passenger side and top.

The vehicle then went into the northwest ditch and rolled about two more times before coming to rest on the passenger side facing south.

Four girls in the vehicle, ages two, seven, nine and 14 were taken to Spencer Hospital with possible injuries.

The vehicle was totaled.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Everly Fire and Rescue, Royal Fire and Rescue and the Spencer Hospital ambulance.

The crash took place shortly before 2:00 p.m.
