Clay County Head-on Crash Injures Three

(Spencer)– A two-vehicle head-on collision last Friday in Clay county sent three people to the hospital.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 32-year-old Jacquelin Larson of Milford was southbound in the 2800 block of Highway 71 when she crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Salvador Garcia of Cherokee.

Larson, Garcia and a passenger in Garcia’s vehicle…his wife, Alejandria…were taken to Spencer Hospital and were later life-flighted to other hospitals.

There was no information on their conditions or extent of injuries.

A 2003 Jeep Liberty driven by Larson and a 1989 Chevrolet K1500 driven by Garcia were both totaled.

The Clay COunty Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Spencer Fire and Rescue, the Iowa State Patrol, Royal Fire and Rescue, Spencer Police Department and Spencer Hospital ambulance.

Authorities say the crash remains under investigation and that charges are pending.

It took place around 11:15 a.m. Friday.
