Clay County Fairgoers Will Notice Change In Gate Accesses This Year

August 27, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– If you’ve attended the Clay County Fair in the past and purchased your ticket while walking through gate “C”, General Manager Jeremy Parsons says that particular gate is now off limits for pedestrians…

Parsons says there have been several incidents in past years in which vehicles have nearly collided with pedestrians at gate C.

In addition, Parsons says only one gate will be open for 24 hour access to the grounds…

Parsons says the changes are also intended to help with security, which, he says, could also include metal detectors in the future.

With the exception for those used by EMS crews, Parsons says golf carts will be off limits in certain areas of the fairgrounds, for safety reasons. That will include the area known as “food row”.

Parsons made the comments during the fair’s annual media day Friday.

The Clay County Fair Powered by SMU opens Saturday, September 10th and runs through Sunday, September 18th.
