(Spencer)– It was a banner year for attendance at the Clay County Fair which concluded Sunday in Spencer.
Phil Hurst, the fair’s General Manager, tells KUOO news attendance for the nine-days was at 326,781 people…a new all-time record.
Hurst attributes it to perfect weather. A light rain fell on the opening day, otherwise sunshine and dry conditions prevailed with temperatures in the upper 70’s and low 80’s.
With this year’s fair in the books, attention is already turning to 2010. Hurst says they’re looking at ways to make it and future fairs just as successful as this year’s was. To do that, he says they need to enhance indoor offerings in the event the weather isn’t as cooperative as it was this year.
