Clay County Fair Receives National, International Recognition

(Spencer)—The Clay County Fair is getting some international recognition.

The fair snagged several honors recently during the International Association of Fairs and Expositions in Las Vegas.

The Clay County Fair received second place in several categories, including “Competitive Exhibit Photo Series” for a series of photos taken by Judy Hemphill featuring the $1,000 cinnamon roll contest.

It also finishing second in “Agricultural Photo Series” for photos featuring the fair’s dairy goat show.

It finished second in the Brochure/Flyer series for its daily pocket guides.

The Clay County Fair also received second place honors for its radio ads.

The fair finished third in the Competitive Exhibit Display photo category for a photo featuring the corn display in the Agriculture Building.

It also had a third place finish in the poster division for it’s “Discover the Greatest” poster.

The Clay County Fair was competing against fairs in another states in the various categories.

Clay County Fair Manager Jeremy Parson, who currently serves as vice chair of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions’ Young Professionals Initiative steering committee, received recognition as a McKoy Scholarship recipient. The scholarships, named after the State Fair of Texas CEO Errol McKoy, are given to students enrolled in the IAFE Institute of Fair Management.
