(Spencer)– We’re learning some additional details into spending patterns during this year’s Clay County Fair.
Fair officials say nearly a third of all food, beverage and specialty concession spending this year went directly to nonprofits. The report says on average, fairgoers spent $10.76 beyond gate admission on food, beverages, carnival rides and specialty concessions.
It also finds that compared to 2024, there was an increase in spending on those items on four days of this year’s fair, with a 5 percent increase on Sunday, September 7th; four percent increases on both Monday and Tuesday, September 8th and 9th; and a 23 percent increase on Wednesday, September 10th. Clay County Fair officials say that over a six-year average, the same days have seen a 78 percent increase in guest spending. They say it shows the Clay County Fair continues to grow as a destination throughout all nine days, not just on weekends.
