Clay County Fair Announces New Secretary/Manager

(Spencer)– The Clay County Fair has a new Secretary/Manager.

Jeremy Parsons, current head of the Missouri State Fair Foundation, has been hired to the position. He starts his new job in August.
Parsons will succeed Phil Hurst, who is retiring later in the fall.

Parsons is currently Executive Secretary of the Missouri State Fair Foundation, leading efforts to restore and preserve the historic Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, Missouri. Prior to accepting that fulltime position, Parsons spent more than 15 years as a summer employee of the Decatur County Fair in Leon, Iowa, the Iowa State Fair, and the Missouri State Fair.
After graduating from college, he spent 11 years as a high school English teacher and coach at Newton-Harris High School in Missouri, teaching and coaching during the school year and working at various fairs during the summer.

Parsons and his wife Kelsi were married in 2007 and have a two-year-old son.
