Clay County Crash Injures Ohio Man

November 22, 2014

(Fostoria)– The Iowa State Patrol has released details into a single-vehicle crash last Thursday night in Clay county that resulted in minor injuries to an Ohio man.

Troopers say 48-year-old John Poirier of Toledo, Ohio was eastbound on County Road B-17 about a half mile east of 230th Avenue when he went left of center. The 1995 Cadillac Eldorado he was driving went into the ditch and became airborne, flying over a creek and striking the east side of the creek embankment, where it came to rest.

Poirier sustained minor injuries but wasn’t transported to a hospital.

He was cited for failure to maintain control, failure to provide information and aid, and for leaving the scene of an accident.

4,500-dollars in damage was estimated to the vehicle.

The crash took place around 10:20 p.m.
