(Spencer)– The Clay County Community Foundation has activated its Disaster Recovery Fund to assist residents in that county adversely affected by severe weather on Tuesday of this week. Executive Director Terri Batschelet tells KUOO news many of those affected are faced with home repairs as a result of large hail…
“There’s a lot of cleanup that’s already happening in the town of Royal, for instance, and Web. Both were hit very hard with about tennis ball size hail. Neighbors are helping neighbors and this is just another way to give to a fund that will then go through organizations that help those in our community that have a need because of damage from the storm.”
Batschelet says non-profit groups and cities can apply for assistance…
“It is a fund that will take local donations and then a committee of community members and board members from the Clay County Community Foundation will review grants from local non-profits or municipalities that may need a little extra support to fill the gaps or needs for residents that are experiencing damage to their homes or their property due to the storms that we had just this past week in Clay county.”
She says the application process is relatively simple…
“To apply the non-profits will contact me and the email is infocccf@gmail.com.”
Likewise, Batschelet says they’re also looking for donations to the fund. You can do that by going to claycofoundation.com or by going to the Clay County Community Foundation’s Facebook page.
