(Spencer)– A two-vehicle collision Wednesday evening at the intersection of Highway 18 and Clay County Road M-50 resulted in serious injuries to one person and minor injuries to three others.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 16-year-old Jacilyn Waldstein of Spencer was northbound on County Road M-50 and had stopped at a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 18. Authorities say she then pulled out into the intersection into the path of a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Anthony Montag of West Bend.
Waldstein was transported by ambulance to Spencer Hospital and was immediately life-flighted to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious injuries.
Montag and three passengers, 28-year-old Rachel Montag, 26-year-old Rebecca Montag and 28-year-old Benjamin Montag…all of West Bend…were treated for minor injuries.
$2,000 in damage was estimated to a 1998 Mercury driven by Waldstein; damage to a 2002 Ford driven by Montag was estimated at $15,000.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Spencer Police Department, the Iowa State Patrol, Spencer ambulance, Spencer Fire and Rescue and Dickens Fire and Rescue.
The collision took place shortly after 9:00 p.m.
