Clay County Collision Injures Three, Including Lake Park Woman

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A two-vehicle collision Friday at the intersection of Clay County Roads B24 and M50 sent three people to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says 26-year-old Kelly Peterson of Bettendorf was driving a 2007 Toyota eastbound on County Road B24 and 46-year-old Julie VanIperen of Lake Park was driving a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound on County Road M50. Troopers say Peterson failed to stop for a stop sign.

Both drivers and a passenger in Peterson’s vehicle, 22-year-old Hannah McMeen of Omaha, were taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital. KUOO news has learned VanIperen was transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital where she is hospitalized with serious injuries.

Authorities say the collision, which took place around 11:00 p.m. Friday, remains under investigation.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Spencer Hospital ambulance and paramedics.
