(Spencer)– Authorities in Clay county are trying to figure out who’s responsible for an abandoned meth lab discovered Sunday afternoon at an abandoned building at a farm site southwest of Lake Center.
A Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the scene and confirmed that it was remnants of a meth lab.
Officers who specialize in the clean-up of such sites were called to the scene along with Dickens and Spencer fire and rescue crews and the Spencer Hospital ambulance.
The Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the State Fire Marshal’s Office were also notified.
No injuries were reported.
Evidence from the scene was gathered and sent to the DCI crime lab for testing. Hazardous materials were properly disposed of.
Clay County Sheriff Randy Krukow says his office is working with area law enforcement agencies and the Iowa Great Lakes Drug Task Force to find those responsible.
Anyone with any information should contact their local law enforcement agency.
