Classic Rock Supergroup The Hit Men to Perform at Pearson Lakes Art Center September 7

September 03, 2022 Becky Thoreson

(Okoboji)-The The Hit Men will perform and record live video at Pearson Lakes Art Center Wednesday evening. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Classic Rock Supergroup, The Hit Men, will perform at Pearson Lakes Art center Wednesday evening.

Lee Shapiro of The Four Seasons originally started the group with the blessing of Frankie Valli. “I said to him what do you think and he says, who’s gonna do it and I said, well, Gerry Polci, who sang Oh, What a Night, and was one of The Four Seasons with me, and Don Ciccone, who was also one of the four, so we had three of The Four Seasons. Frankie said, hey look, I limit the amount of Four Seasons music that certain groups can do because it could detract from the lure on Broadway of Jersey Boys. He says, but you were one of The Four Seasons, man, that’s biographical, that’s documented. You go do whatever you want, and The Hit Men in that line-up lasted for twelve years.”

He says he later transformed The Hit Men into the current classic rock lineup. “So, what we’ve done is reconfigured The Hit Men into a classic rock group that might be the best one that there is. One guy is on the road with Alice Cooper, another guy goes out sometimes with Ted Nugent. We’ve got another guy who was with John Oates from Hall & Oates. So, like I had Frankie Valli’s secrets, these guys have all of those secrets. When they get together and play, it’s absolutely awesome and that is who will be coming to Okoboji, and when we’re in Okoboji, we’ll be shooting video of our next video special. So, whoever goes to this concert will likely be in the audience on the audience shots and see themselves on television.”

The Hit Men will take the stage at 7:30 Wednesday evening.
