(Spirit Lake)– Unofficial results are in for Dickinson county from Tuesday’s elections.

In Arnolds Park, Jim Hussong was unopposed for Mayor. Two seats were up for election on the city council. Matt Richter was re-elected to his seat, receiving 94 votes. Jamie Smith was elected to the other at-large position with 97 votes. Incumbent Mitch Watters failed in his re-election bid, with 84 votes. Jeremy Lueck received 76 votes and Brian Wrightman had 83. Randy Pas was unopposed to fill a vacancy with 202 votes.

In Lake Park, Mayor Matt Carstensen was unopposed. Three at-large seats were up for election on the city council. Elected to those were Joseph Sohn, an incumbent, with 242 votes; Jason Jacobson with 239; and Nathan Judd with 218. Others receiving votes included Jaret Byers with 137; Jack Bradshaw 109, Jeffrey Nechkash with 92 and Joshua McClain with 32.

In Milford, Bob Clark will become the next mayor. He mounted a write-in campaign in the days leading up to the election and received the most votes at 219. Incumbent Steve Anderson didn’t file for re-election, but received 66 write-in votes. Three seats were up for election on the city council. Elected to those seats were Chris Hinshaw, with 292 votes and McIntyre Arndt with 213. No one filed for the other seat, however Jantina Carney mounted a write-in campaign in days leading up to the election. She’ll fill the other seat, receiving 126, winning out over another write-in candidate, Derek Schwery, who received 99 votes.

In Okoboji, Mary Vanderwoude was unopposed for Mayor. Three seats were up for election on the city council. Elected to those positions were Julie Mau Andres, an incumbent, with 140 votes; Dan Sanders, another incumbent, with 107; and Kae Hoppe with 106. Others receiving votes included Thomas Bjornstad, with 105.

In Orleans, Bill Maas was unopposed for Mayor with 86 votes. Elected to three seats on the city council were Ben Radcliffe, an incumbent, with 75 votes; Denda Evans with 69 and Gary Kilpatrick with 64. Incumbent Stanley Gable lost out in his re-election bid, receiving 58 votes.

In Spirit Lake, Kevin Bice was unopposed for Mayor, receiving 336 votes. Two seats were up for election on the city council. Incumbents Angela Kofoot and John Chappas were re-elected, according to unofficial results, with Kofoot receiving 252 votes and Chappas 209. Challenger Mike Hemiller received 202.

There were no contested races for Mayor or city council in Superior.

In Terril, Julie Thiesen was unopposed for Mayor with 54 votes. Elected to two seats on the city council were Austin Fairchild with 57 and Jeri Nissen with 49 votes. Jerry Kirchner had 18 votes.

In Wahpeton, Philip Johnson was unopposed for Mayor with 70 votes. Elected to three seats on the city council were Merlyn Kruger with 66 votes; Lois Benson with 58 votes and Harold Prior with 50 votes. Tom Rierson lost out in his re-election bid with 46 votes.

In West Okoboji, incumbent Craig Miner was unopposed for Mayor with 50 votes. Two seats on the city council were up for election. lncumbents Mike Paxton and Darlene Powers were re-elected. Paxton had 60 votes and Powers received 38. Challenger Steven Wedeking received 24.

Also Tuesday, a bond issue for a new elementary school in the Emmetsburg Community School District received a simple majority of the vote, but fell short of the 60 percent super majority needed for passage, receiving just 54 percent.

In Clay county, a measure making emergency services an essential service was approved with 1,604 in favor and 1,022 against.

In Spencer, Donavon Wunschel was elected Mayor with 1,383 votes. Challenger Ron Hanson received 566. Incumbent Brian Balk was defeated in his bid for re-election to an at-large seat on the city council. Becky Peterson received 1,148 votes while Balk had 623. Another challenger, Bradley Bolyard, had 135. Amy Moser was elected to the Ward 3 seat with 246 votes while Tracey Larson had 154.
