City Of Terril Looking To Develop Land

August 18, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Terril)– The city of Terril is looking to develop some land on the southeast side of town. Mayor Julie Thiesen tells KUOO the city owns the 65 acres…

“Currently it’s being farmed and we’re happy with that, but we would like to develop this land to commercial and industrial property to help the town and help other businesses who may want to come in here.”

Thiesen says they’re working with the elevator, which has expressed interest in some of the land. She says the two entities are working on a land trade. Thiesen says Terril offers some geographical advantages to a business or industry that would want to locate there…

“It’s kind of a central location between Estherville and Spencer and Spirit Lake, Emmetsburg, so we thought maybe some industry would like to come in here and develop here.”

She says the city is prepared to extend utilities and infrastructure to the site…

“We have plans out for that to get the roads and get our sewer and everything out there. There is a house on State Street and so it wouldn’t be hard at all to get utilities and things out there.”

Thiesen says anyone interested should contact Terril City Clerk Ann VanDeWalle at 712-853-6227.
