City Of Spencer Wants To Meet With Federal & State Lawmakers

September 19, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– The city of Spencer plans to meet with state and federal representatives as flood recovery operations continue. Mayor Steve Bomgaars says the city typically meets with lawmakers annually in about December, but he says they want to bump that up given what took place this summer…

“We want to meet with them a little bit ahead of that timeline, probably in October at some point, and talk about what some priorities we have or what some of the needs we have as a city and so forth. We’ve also been in contact with the city of Rock Valley to kind of coordinate some things with regard to message with regard to our state representatives up here. But also we want to have some conversations with Congressman Feenstra so that we can get the message to him because there’s obviously some things that can be done at the federal government level that can help us here on the local level.”

Bomgaars informed the city council of those plans at their meeting last (Monday) evening.
