City Of Spencer Looking For Volunteers To Assist With Spring Clean Up Of Public Areas

(Spencer)– The city of Spencer is looking for individuals and organizations who would like to volunteer for the spring clean up of the city’s public spaces. Mayor Steve Bomgaars says the clean-ups are planned for the weekends of April 22nd and 29th…

“Last year we had 15 to 20 different groups that cleaned up various public areas within the community. We had church groups, business groups, service organizations, you name it. I mean people were really very active and forthcoming to come and help clean up the community.”

Bomgaars says those interested should contact Spencer City Hall…

“City Hall will have the list of various places that you can clean up and we’ll provide the garbage bags, we’ll provide the disposable gloves for people to use, and so forth. We also have access to our environmental trailer which has all those things. It also has the metal pickers that make it pretty easy to use. It also has vests in case you would like to use those.”

Bomgaars says the city’s Parks Department will then collect the trash that’s collected from the various areas.
