(Spencer)– Snow may not be in the forecast just yet, but one area city is putting out a reminder about its snow removal ordinance. City officials in Spencer say parking on city streets and alleys in that city is prohibited from midnight until 7:00 am during snow events. The ordinance kicks in whenever a snowfall of two inches or more is predicted or actually occurs. City officials say the snow event continues so long as snow accumulation continues and for an additional 48 hours after snowfall has ended. They add that failure to comply with the ordinance will result in a 100 dollar fine and/or having your vehicle towed.
Spencer officials also remind property owners to remove snow and ice accumulations from public sidewalks adjacent to their residence or place of business after a snow event. In the downtown commercial district, 12 hours is allowed from the time the snowfall ends. In all other areas of Spencer, 24 hours is allowed from the time the snowfall ends. Failure to abide by the ordinance may result in the city doing the removal with the costs being assessed to the property owner, along with an administrative fee.
