(Spencer)– Progress continues on a commercial development the city of Spencer is working on in the area of the North Y. However the city’s engineer on the project told the city council earlier this week several loose ends still need to be tied up, including easement agreements, project alternates, and drainage. City Manager Dan Gifford told the council some of that is dependent upon final plans from Kwik Star, which is looking at purchasing some property in that area…
“Kwik Star is getting closer to being able to close on that property. They want all their design done, they want the city to approve the design. They haven’t sent that to us yet, so they want to make sure that goes before they pull the trigger and the current owner of the property doesn’t want to do anything with it because they’re going to buy it, so we’re sort of stuck just waiting for that process to play out.”
City councilman Donavon Wunschel said he wants to see the process continue to be expedited as quickly as possible…
“We need to keep the momentum going on this as aggressively and as quickly as possible to keep it going, so whatever we need to do to do the Committee of the Whole, if that’s what you’re needing, I know we’ve got some other issues that we’ve talked with that we could use Committee of the Whole to see if we can go forward on some other, bigger development stuff for the city, so if that’s what we got to do, let’s do it.”
The council agreed to take up the final details at an upcoming Committee Of The Whole meeting.
