(Orleans)– The Orleans City Council Monday voted 5-0 to approve a contract with a new garbage and recycling collection service. It will allow the city to transition to a curbside recycling program once the new contract with Town and Country Disposal goes into effect this coming July 1st. In addition to city residents, residents in the unincorporated areas of Dickinson county had also been using the drop-off site in Orleans. The county had been paying the city a monthly stipend in exchange for them hosting the site. Cmelik says the Orleans drop-off site will be going away by this coming July 1st.
