(Okoboji)– City officials in Okoboji say they’re keeping close tabs on a recycling drop-off site the city operates adjacent to the Spirit Lake Airport. They’re concerned over a possible increase in volume once a drop-off location at Orleans closes later this month.
Okoboji City Administrator Michael Meyers says any increase in volume means the roll-offs have to be emptied more frequently, and that adds to the city’s costs. He told the city council Tuesday they’ll continue to monitor the situation for now.
Meyers adds the City of Okoboji recycling site is intended for non-commercial City of Okoboji residents only. Residents in unincorporated areas of Dickinson County or other communities should utilize one of the options provided by the County
The city of Okoboji has a curbside recycling program but offers the drop-off as an added convenience for residents.
