City Of Milford Reminds Residents Of Fireworks Ordinance

June 27, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Milford)– Residents of Milford are being reminded it is illegal to shoot off consumer fireworks in the city. A press release says anyone caught doing that will be subject to a misdemeanor carrying a fine of not less than $250. Violations that occur on public property will be subject to a fine of not less than $500.

The release states that only novelty-types of fireworks are allowed to be discharged in Milford city limits. That includes things such as party poppers, snappers, toy smoke devices, snakes, glow worms, sparklers and dipped sticks.

Consumer fireworks as defined by Iowa Code Section 727.2(1)(a) may only be used between the hours of 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. or July 3rd and July 4th and only on private property with permission of the owner.
