City Development Board To Consider Spirit Lake Annexation Proposals

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The city of Spirit Lake has a date with the state’s City Development Board.

City Administrator Mark Stevens tells KUOO news the board will review two annexation proposals being put forth by the city of Spirit Lake at its January 14th meeting in Des Moines.

One is for some land just east of the intersection of 28th Street and Sunner Avenue; the other is for some land about a half mile south of there. Stevens says it totals about 11 parcels of land that would be incorporated into the city.

Stevens says the proposed annexations would make that area more contiguous with existing city boundaries. He says it would take care of one rather large unincorporated area that’s nearly in the heart of the city.

Stevens says annexation proceedings for some parcels of land included in a major development proposed for the city’s southwest side, which is to include a golf course, haven’t gotten underway yet. He says the city is waiting for an annexation petition from the property owners.
