(Graettinger)– Authorities in Palo Alto county are looking for a man wanted in connection with a pursuit through Graettinger Saturday that injured a Palo Alto county sheriff’s deputy.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says it started around 1:00 a.m. Saturday when deputy Eric Ring attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Mitchell Jespersen of Graettinger. Authorities say Jesepersen refused to stop, leading the deputy on a pursuit through Graettinger. Jespersen then turned south on Highway Four where he met a reserve deputy. Jespersen then turned into a ditch and drove into a field where he got stuck in a frozen, flooded area. Jespersen then got out of the vehicle and ran to a snow fence. A K-9 unit was deployed, but authorities say Jespersen was able to get over the fence by the time the dog got there.
Jespersen remains at large.
He’s wanted on charges of eluding…a class “D” felony, driving while revoked, interference with official acts, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, careless driving and three counts of failure to obey a stop sign.
Authorities say the charges will be enhanced because a deputy was injured during the incident.
