(Spencer)– A report of a disturbance in which a gun had allegedly been fired in a residence in Spencer early this (Thursday) morning landed a Spencer man in jail.
Spencer polcie say they were called shortly before 4:00 a.m. to 415 East 13th Street. Officers secured the perimeter of the house and were able to have a phone conversation with one of the occupants. A short time later a male was found in the backyard and was taken into custody.
54-year-old Joseph Johnson of Spencer was arrested and charged with domestic abuse assault…a class “D” felony; and intimidation with a firearm…also a class “D” felony. Johnson was booked into the Clay county jail.
Another occupant of the house was taken to Spencer Municipal Hospital with serious facial injuries. Authorities aren’t releasing the victim’s name or condition.
Police say two shotguns were seized, one of which had been discharged in the residence.
No other damage was reported other than to the inside of the residence, and no other injuries were reported.
