(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake residents will soon notice some changes when it comes to getting rid of green waste.
City officials say effective January 1st, solid waste crews will no longer pick up the orange plastic bags filled with grass clippings, leaves or brush. Instead, those items will have to be placed in 30 gallon “brown kraft” paper bags available from retailers such as Bomgaars, Ace Hardware, Wal-Mart and Hy-Vee.
After January 1st, Spirit Lake residents can use their leftover orange bags for regular garbage. Crews will pick up the garbage-filled orange bags in addition to the normal pickup of the green bags.
