Central Bank holding Food Drive in Conjunction with Black Out Night at Spirit Lake High School

February 01, 2023 Becky Thoreson

(Spirit Lake)-A food drive is underway in conjunction with Black Out Night at Spirit Lake High School. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

Central Bank of Spirit Lake is holding a food drive in support of the Backpack Program and Upper Des Moines Opportunity.
Commercial Loan Officer Brett Olson says, area residents are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items at the Bank prior to the Spirit Lake basketball games on Friday. “At Central Bank and Insure, we’re very intentional about supporting the community that we’re in, and we’re happy to support Black Out Night and do a food drive in conjunction with Spirit Lake Schools to support the Spirit Lake Backpack Program and Upper Des Moines Opportunity. We’re tying in with the upcoming basketball game Friday night. If you bring 4 cans or nonperishable items into the Bank, we’ll give you a black tee shirt that you can wear to the Spirit Lake game that night, following the theme for the Black Out. Again, it’s 4 nonperishable or toiletry items into the Bank by Friday afternoon or until we run out of tee shirts.”
He adds that all donations are welcome to support Upper Des Moines Opportunity. “Cash donations are accepted, and we’ll make sure those get to the school district and Upper Des Moines Opportunity who are always in need of those donations. Whether it be food, toiletry or cash donations, they do a great job in our community providing food for the Backpack Program and all the services that Upper Des Moines Opportunity Provides.”

Spirit Lake will host Estherville Lincoln Central Friday night.
