(Spirit Lake)– A project to expand sanitary sewer service to the south side of Center Lake is now complete. The Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary District approved final acceptance of the project at their meeting November 8th. Sanitary District Superintendent Steve Anderson says the first resident of many connected to the new line October 13th of this year.
Anderson says the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ designation of Center Lake as an impaired waterway in 2016 served as an impetus for the project.
Anderson says roads in the south Center Lake area will be re-paved this coming spring as part of a joint contract with the county.
